Location
A pretty iconic location but, the photo was taken from outside the Tower Hotel in London alongside the river ThamesTime
It was late March at around 7:pm as the days rush was slowing ebbing away, it has been a showery day, cold, with a couple of flurries of snow.Lighting
I wanted to capture the city scene under artificial lighting, night time city shots are a favourite and as I was visiting from Australia catching up with family in the UK I wanted the chance to take some night time shots in London, I think this was the pick of the bunch.Equipment
I used a Canon 600D 18-55mm kit lens, ISO1600, f4, shutter 1/4, focal length 18/1. Handheld, no other equipment used.Inspiration
As mentioned earlier I was in the UK to visit family it was the first time we had been back for many years, I was born and raised in London, it's a place of great childhood memories. Now I have an interest in photography I was hoping to capture some the iconic sights that London offers, to have those precious childhood memories rekindled whenever I look at the images I took during that visit. Also seeing as we didn't know when we would be back again it was felt like a great opportunity too good to pass up.Editing
Some tweaks yes to shadows and highlights, trying to get the right balance was trickyIn my camera bag
I'm not blessed with loads of equipment; I carry my trusty 18-55 kit lens, I also have two telephotos one 75-300, 55-250 I have a 24mm wide-angle, a range of filters, flash and my latest addition Alpine Labs Pulse shutter release which has proved to be a worthwhile investmentFeedback
None, I see shots on Viewbug far better than mine. I just try to capture something similar, sometimes the results are not good, and then you get one good one...I'm still working and still learning, the best advice is to get out there as often as you can, take loads of photos. Odds are there will be one or two that turn out to be unique and full of meaning for the photographer that took it!
