Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Araluen Botanic Park in the Perth Hills, Western Australia. We were visiting the Gardens with my father who had travelled over from the UK to visit with us.

Time

If I remember correctly this was taken early afternoon in January mid-summer for this part of the world and a very hot day. It was 2010 and that week we had four days in a row over 40 degrees C.

Lighting

To be totally honest it was quite bright and I had lost some definition higher up the image but I was able to tweak it in Lightroom to get the image you see now.

Equipment

OK, here's the thing, I wasn't really that much into photography at the time and I took this with a small Fuji point and shoot 2mp pocket camera....that's it!

Inspiration

I think a combination here, I mentioned above I wasn't really a keen photographer but I enjoyed taking photos when the opportunity arose. I think for this I was trying to capture both the curvature of the structure and of course the reflection of the structure, trees and sky in the water.

Editing

Yes, I had the image sitting on my computer for some time, as I gradually got more into taking pictures and learning more I Invested in Lightroom and used the tools at my disposal to I hope improve the image.

In my camera bag

So currently I have a Canon EOS 600D a range of telephoto lenses kit lenses, wide-angle etc. looking to upgrade next year I have my eye of the Canon 6D Markii

Feedback

I would just say get out there as much as you can, you'll never know when that one special image will be captured..I'll be frank in that I'm looking forward to retiring, currently, I just don't seem to have enough time to get out there and take pictures....soon though!
