This photo was taken in my backyard on Vancouver Island, Canada. I am a self taught photograper and love going out right after the rain stop to catch the great natural filtered light and water droplets on plants.Time
I believe this was taken in the afternoon after a long rainy summer's day.Lighting
The clouds had just started to lift and the sky was the perfect reflective grey-white. Bright overcast sky is one of my favourites to shoot in as it is so versatile and forgiving, and you can really play with the artistic value of the light without the risk of losing too much detail.Equipment
I have a really old camera actually! It is a Canon xs with stock 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
The rain.. I love how the garden looks after a rain. You will catch me out there often. Nature is a huge inspiration for me. Plus I think this is one of my favorite colored roses in the garden.Editing
I usually just use light room for standard edits. I like to fade the shadows to add depth and help isolate the flower. I often use a brush with masking on to further darken the background. I think I used a slight vignette and turned up the vibrancy, and that was pretty much it!In my camera bag
Just my good ol' canon xs. Hopefully one day soon I can upgrade!Feedback
Look at everything from all angles. Beauty is everywhere. Opportunity only presents itself if you let it.
