This photo was taken at Butterfly Gardens in Victoria, BC.Time
we usually end up going sometime in the afternoon, between 1 and 3. It takes about an hour and a half to drive there from our home.Lighting
The gigantic greenhouse style terrarium is perfect for any weather. With just enough trees and opaque windows for shade on sunny days, and the perfect light for plant photography even on rainy days, it is kind of a learning photographer's haven!Equipment
my old canon rebel. I had to tiptoe to get this shot and had the camera way above my head, so I think I may have used auto settings on this shot honestly! There was no way to calibrate it manually at that angle. Luckily it paid off!Inspiration
I love all the funky tropical plants and butterflies. Plus the weather is perfect inside of the greenhouse all year long, rain or shine!Editing
This was taken years ago, and I don't think I adjusted much other than the color profile and a bit of contrast/added shadows. In my camera bag
I don't really have anything other than my stock 18-55mm lens and my canon!Feedback
Get interesting with angles. Envision the end in mind and work the angles until you find the sweet spot! And practice, practice, practice!
