Behind The Lens

Location

In Del Ray Beach Florida.

Time

Late afternoon.

Lighting

There was sun but partly cloudy. It was the afternoon golden hour, light wa warm and less intense.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5DII, Tamron 28-300MM DVi. - hand held.

Inspiration

We spend several hours taking images of a variety of different birds, mostly Egrets, This one was sitting on the nest and as I approached began to prepare for take off. I got several images from that sequence this I felt was the most interesting.

Editing

Typical work flow, cropping and sizing the image for better placement in the frame in Lightroom, with basic edits. Then tweaking levels, cleaning up and sharpening in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

Besides Camera with 28-300mm lens, I usually carry a Canon 8-16 mm fisheye zoom, a Flash as the camera does not have one build in. A Canon 100 mm macro lens, extra batteries, CF cards a 2x converter (used rarely). Typical accessories, including a LED flash light, bug spray, a large Zip Lock bag for weather protection, cleaning wipes and a small fold-able reflector, small first aid kit. Extra body cap and front lens cap are also present. A variety of filters which depend upon what and when I am out shooting.

Feedback

Patience, Patience and more Patience...you can spend a day capturing one subject and come home with only a handful of truly successful images.
