Location
One evening I was out for a stroll on my 40 acres in South Dakota. I saw this pretty Salsify flower and it was during the golden hour. I took a few shots and loved this one! It turned out better than I could have imagined. The lighting was just perfect to capture the evening golds. I got down on the ground and played around until I got just the right composition and lighting.Time
In the evening during the golden hour just before sunset.Lighting
It was a clear evening and the sun was just going down.Equipment
Canon t3i with my 35mm sigma 1.4 prime lens. No tripod or flash.Inspiration
The gorgeously huge dandelion like flower just begged for its portrait!Editing
Captured in Raw, post processing in lightroom, cropped square for a sale. I liked it and kept it.In my camera bag
I always have my t3i, a flash, small tripod, monopod, several zoom kit lens, polarizing lens, my 35mm sigma 1.4 prime lens, a couple of spare batteries and extra sd cards.Feedback
Go out just before sunset, the hour before is the best golden light. This was in a field, so get out in the ditch or other fields with wild flowers and weeds! Experiment, take several shots, play with your settings and the lighting.
