Behind The Lens

Location

At home. I set up a reflective surface, on a table. Hung a piece of paper behind it, with a flashlight behind the paper.

Time

It was morning. Had all of the curtains closed, so that minimal light could get into the room.

Lighting

I didn’t have much choice in the way of lighting it, but did have to try several different flashlights, until I found one that really did a good job of lighting it evenly.

Equipment

I used a canon t3i, 75-300 lens, a tripod, and a flashlight. A thin piece of paper was used as the backdrop, and the glass of water was sitting on a black reflective surface.

Inspiration

I was inspired by some similar pictures, and I wanted to see if I could duplicate them.

Editing

Not much in post-process, only adjustments to the brightness in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Since this picture I have upgraded some of my equipment. I now have a Canon 6d mark 2, 75-300 lens, as well as a 24-105 lens, and a godox 860 flash.
