Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a neighbor's garden. My neighbor was gone for a couple weeks and when she goes, myself and son care for her gardens, therefore; giving me opportunity to capture beautiful blooms not in my garden! I do have the white Hawaiian Ginger in my garden yet mine was not in bloom the same time hers was! They are so pretty and when they fall, I save the petals in the freezer for her return and she makes homemade perfume out of them.

Time

It was around 6pm when I took this photo.

Lighting

Lighting was natural from the 6 pm Florida sun in a slightly shaded area of the garden.

Equipment

I used a point and shoot Canon 720 to capture this photo.

Inspiration

I enjoy taking photos of nature, especially macro shots. My heart feels good to see things that can not be seen by the natural eye. When I see beautiful flowers in full bloom, I try to imagine a theme or story behind the photo being taken. I take many many photos of the same subject, upload to the computer then look for what inspires me. I felt this was a different point of view and I liked it for several reasons. The fan of the back petals to me was uplifting and a universal outreach of beauty. The front petal tells me by the very slight wedge that things in life are beautiful even if not perfect and the beauty overrides what seems to be not perfect in the one petal yet is not by mistake of its Creator, therefore; it becomes perfect. The outreaching petal seems to speak "serving". So putting all together... ln the beauty of the Creator, Who perfects our imperfection and outreaches universally with a mission to serve...

Editing

If any post-processing was done, it would have been using the auto enhance or contrast slightly.. I try to keep nature as close to natural captures.

In my camera bag

I travel light with my camera on a wrist strap and charged batteries. Due to prior injury that causes physical challenges I have not found a way to use DSLR camera that will not effect me. The movement when I've tried to use a better camera onsets vertigo that I deal with. So I do my best to find the point and shoot camera with ability to shoot macro and distance to capture whatever I might find. I am open for anyone to make suggestions as I'm told for years that a better camera is needed to progress in this field. So for now, I travel light and take a lot of photos!

Feedback

In my experience, I take a lot of photos when I see something of natural beauty. Take many angles and when you upload on your computer, you will see the different views to select special photos of that speak to you or tell a story. A different point of view is refreshing. Enjoy what you are doing and what you are taking photos of. And be yourself in the photos you take.
