Location
The photo was taken on the central west coast of Florida at a very shallow, long pond that fluctuates in water level according to rain. It has even went so low that only grass is there. Regardless, wildlife birds continue to go there. It is a dividing space between a grocery store and a superstore for merchandise and food. My son worked at the grocery store which gave me time after dropping him off to work that I would park at the small pond and look for opportunity to take photos and learn.Time
If I remember correctly, it would have been in the morning when I took my son to work.Lighting
It was natural light from outside in the morning hours.Equipment
The photo was taken with a GE X500 camera. The camera had different setting built into it so I may have used an auto setting. I most likely used my car door as a base to stabilize the shot. No other equipment was with me that day.Inspiration
My favorite things to take photos of is wildlife. So much to learn from wildlife and usually quite, serenity in nature doing so. I go to this little location and pull my car over to focus on the birds at the pond. I read an short article that spoke of bird photography. Some shots you just have to have the timing down to get the shot as you never know what they will do but as you study the birds, each have a different position that they will go to prior to doing things like launching into air, diving for the fish, etc etc. I also read to focus on one bird rather than so many at one time. So I selected the bird to focus on for the day as the "model". Being fairly new at learning photography, my self learning was mainly with birds. That was my learning subject as they come out well on macro as well as in flight yet to capture one with wings spread clearly was more challenging. Patience and a prayer and the bird started walking with its wings up into the reflection. The wait paid off for a photo that I liked.Editing
I do not recall post processing on this photo yet if any were done, it would have been basic like an auto adjust or slight clarity adjust. A professional photographer from ViewBug taught me to leave nature as natural as possible, not using any post processing so the nature is as it is and it be an all natural nature photo.In my camera bag
I normally have a shoulder strap, wrist strap, extra batteries, sometimes extra scan disk card. Depending on where I go and the weather I might take a large zip lock bag to protect it from water/rain. Again, depending on where I go or what the shoot will be, I might use a small tripod or large tripod.Feedback
From this particular photo, my lesson I was working on was to select one bird, not all. Keep my focus on that one and have patience for the right movement you are waiting for or grab the unexpected surprise shot!
