Behind The Lens

Location

East of Oakridge OR in the mountains

Time

We went to the snow that day to have a play day. We found this spot and started having fun. I didn’t realize there were train tracks under the snow until this train came. He slowed way down to pass by and waved to us. What a surprise

Lighting

It was a beautiful clear day but cold. Thus was just taken by chance so used natural lighting. The sun was not shinning on the train.

Equipment

Canon EOS Rebel T3 with 75-300 lens. Since I wasn’t sure about settings with snow landscape, I used auto focus. No other equipment was used

Inspiration

I love trains and this was so exciting to be this close to one in a mountain setting. They are so powerful and yet can be so beautiful. The engineer was so considerate slowing down to pass us. Exhilarating

Editing

No. Took this off my camera chip

In my camera bag

I have a 18-55 lens, cloth to wipe lens, shutter release cable, pad and pen for notes and tripod attached to top of bag

Feedback

I am just beginning with photography. I still have to learn about settings and functions. There wasn’t time to experiment so I let the camera do the work on full auto. I am probably not a good source to give advice, but one day I hope I am in a position to help others take breathtaking photos. I am trying to learn more from other photographers and from instruction that ViewBug offers
