Location
This was taken on the window sill in the kitchen. I was experimenting with my phone and very pleased with the outcome. I have a huge collection of these guys and I love taking photos of themTime
I went into the kitchen about 6 in the morning and noticed the sun shinning through the cactus. Since we lose the morning sun fairly quickly, I grabbed my phone to capture itLighting
I used the sun shinning through the plant which gave it a luminous affect. It just happened that it was the time of year that the red appears on the edges for fall. The kitchen was somewhat dark so I think it helped bring out the colors. The light green in the background is the grass outside through the screenEquipment
I used my phone to take this photo with no flash. The sun did the rest to finish the piece of beauty. I would have preferred to use my canon and tripod, but this time of year, we lose morning sun quickly because if heavy cloud coverInspiration
When I saw the way the sun was shinning through the plant I was awestruck. The petals of this cactus are thick and yet the sun almost makes them look transparentEditing
I used Lightroom to bring the red out more and a small amount of saturation on the green. In my camera bag
I have two cameras I use. Canon Rebel T3 and Canon Rebel T7, I use a short lens on the T3 and telephoto on the T7. I also have a tripod that sits on the top of the bag, cleaning cloths, extra battery, pen and pad for notes, handbooks for the cameras, filtersFeedback
I would say to pay attention to how the sun plays a role in photos. I have learned so much from other photographers on ViewBug and tutorials about lighting. The light is what made this photo stand out.
