This photo was taken in a overgrown Bougainvillea by the roadside, just outside of a house being renovated.Time
The shot was taken between 3 and 4 pm. It was summer so any earlier would have been too much sunlight and also unbearably hot.Lighting
The sun had fallen behind her and she was shaded a bit from it hitting her directly by some other trees along with the Bougainvillea plant. Still we were able to get some nice rim light off her shoulder.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5d Mk iv and Canon 70-200mm F2.8L. No reflector or strobe was used.Inspiration
One day instead of driving, I decided to walk to the bakery which was about 10 mins. As I walk by I notice these overgrown Bougainvilleas by this house where construction work is being carried out. I had wanted to do another natural light shoot but this plant and the color I called up the makeup artist and the model and shared my idea. They were both ecstatic and this is one of the shot we got.Editing
Nothing much was done to this shot, the colors are natural. Just a little bit of skin retouching on the model. In my camera bag
On this trip all I had was the Canon 5D MK iv, Canon 50mm f/1.4 and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8. Along with those I would normally have Canon 24-105mm f/4, Tonika 16-28mm f2.8 for wide shots and the Canon 85mm f1.8 if I don't feel like using the zoom. Godox TT600 pocket flashes.Feedback
If you're going to do natural light images, the time of day is key to achieve what you have in mind. You have to take into consideration the angle of the sun and its projected path. Since this was a hot summers day, the was little to no clouds in the sky so you will have to think about how much light do you want on your subject. The shade from a tree can help to soften the light depending on how much of it you are getting.
