Location
This image was taken at Hope Gardens in Kingston. We were doing our first fashion shoot in collaboration with a known Jamaican designer.Time
This was about 3pm and since this was summer, this was shot under a row of trees that gave us enough shade while creating a mystical look for a lost princess.Lighting
I wanted the mythical look, a lonely princess on her way somewhere so we chose this location to fulfill that look. Using the light from the trees, I added just one flash Godox TT600 in a soft box to make her shine without losing what the ambient lighting had to offer.Equipment
Canon 7D Mk II, Canon 70-200mm, Godox TT600 and Godox 24x24 diffuser.Inspiration
I saw the dress at a fashion show and decided to ask the designer to collaborate. I explained what I wanted and he decided on the partnership. I then went in search of somewhere that would fit the theme of my idea and Hope Gardens had various spots that fit me idea. I did shoot several other pieces but this location and this dress is one of my favorite shot.Editing
I did a little of post-processing but only for color and exposure. I normally use Photoshop for my post processing and clean up.In my camera bag
Depends on what I want to achieve I will pack accordingly. I do have a 7D Mark II and 5D Mark II. I walk with my beloved 70-200mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8 and Tonika 16-28mm wide f2.8. Godox TT600, Zomei tripod.Feedback
I aspire to inspire not just others but myself. Imagine, Scout, Collaborate and Create. I set out to create a fashion shoot of my own idea, good or bad. But I did not leave it up to chance, I don't 'spray and pray', I planned. Planning can help you achieve the shot you want because without planning, you can lose focus. Planning includes envisioning the shoot, scouting the location to fit your idea, collaborating if other creatives are able to help. On D-Day go with shots you want to achieve but don't be rigid, look for other shots that may present themself. Be a director but allow creative advice from model and other creatives involved. Balance ambient light with strobe/flash to make it look natural but still the final look is what you wanted.
