Location
I took this picture, "Confederate Golf Cart," at the Brooksville Raid Re-enactment in Brooksville, Florida.Time
The Brooksville Raid Re-enactment, the largest Civil War Re-enactment in Florida, is an annual event which takes place on the third weekend in January. With over 1500 reenactors and their families, plus cannons, horses, vendors and more, I vividly recall snapping photo after photo. This particular one was taken at 1:29 pm, as participants were preparing for the re-enactment of the Brooksville Raid Battle.Lighting
The weather conditions and time of day provided sufficient natural lighting for this shot.Equipment
"Confederate Golf Cart" was shot with a Sony Fine Pix S5700 camera with a fixed lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
Re-enactments are all about creating an opportunity for both participants and the attending public to journey back in time. And they are all about authenticity. In the case of the Brooksville Raid Re-enactment, the public is invited to tour authentic confederate and union camps, to witness an actual Civil War battle take place in front of them, and to experience life as it was during the bygone era of the American Civil War. The image of this golf cart on a Civil War battlefield stood in sharp - and humorous - contrast to everything else around me. It was an image that begged to be captured.Editing
The image was cropped in order to focus attention on the golf cart and the confederate soldiers. In my camera bag
In my bag I carry an Canon EOS1300D with a 18-55 mm. standard lens, a wide-angle and telephotos lens, a variety of filters and a tripod.Feedback
To me "Confederate Golf Cart" image was not so much about taking the perfect picture or about perfecting that image in post-processing. More so, it was about capturing a funny moment in time. I actually have a Viewbug photo collection called "Funny Moments." If the opportunity presents itself, I enjoy poking fun in my photography. And I encourage others to do so.
