This magnificent tree of life reigns in lake Wanaka in New Zealand. It is maybe the most famous tree in the world.Time
I made it to the tree for the golden hour like many photographers every day.Lighting
When the moutains in the background are colored in red and reflect in the lake the painting is achived and ready to be photographed for several minutes till dusk.Equipment
I shot this scene with my Sony a7s II and a Canon 24-70mm f/4 at 44mm, 3200ISO f4 and 1/800 sec. I didn't use any tripod or flash.Inspiration
I knew about the most famous tree in the world before even coming to Wanaka or New Zealand. I discovered the beautiful photos on instagram like everybody and I wanted to make the stop by Wanaka to see it with my own eyes and my own lens. I knew that without any cloud the best shot would be at dusk or dawn. I've been there for the two golden hours. This is the evening shot.Editing
The post processing here is limited to slight adjustments and saturation to make the colors a bit more vivid than on the RAW shot.In my camera bag
I have a Sony a7S II camera with a CANON 24-70mm f4, a SAMYANG 14mm f2.8, a SIGMA 150-600mm f5.6-6.3 and a CANON 50mm f1.8. I also have a M42 adapter and an Helios 44-2 58mm f2.8 lens made in USSR. An ND filter and a Pola filter.Feedback
For a shot like this one my advice would be "travel" or even better "explore". When I've first seen this tree on a picture I was in France which is the farthest I could possibly be from that tree on Earth. I am sure there are many natural wonders and curiosities like this one everywhere in hidden places waiting to be discovered on photography.
