The photo was taken during one of our morning walks along the picturesque streets of Vancouver's West End.Time
Cloudy morning.Lighting
It was a morning after a thunderstorm, so typical clouds and not much of a good lighting... But sometimes one has to take their moments as they come.Equipment
No camera at the time, only my phone.Inspiration
My dog's beautiful character. I know that each and every one of them is unique, but she was very special to me - I used to say often that it was she who saved me, not the other way around. I wanted to memorise (and since my natural memory space is not too large, I have to use "supplemental" ones) and cherish every one of those little moments of goofy, touching, clever, silly, surprising or otherwise awesome behaviour she exhibited, that made me proudest dog parent ever... 99% of the time. Now those photos are all I have left of her, so they are even more special to me.Editing
I might have, had it not been taken with a phone. For example, I would have made sure to avoid that overblown white on her face - she had such cute spots there, which are almost rendered invisible here.In my camera bag
Nikon D750, 50mm 1.8 lens, Hoya polarising filter. But sometimes I want to leave all that at home, and just enjoy the walk and being present.Feedback
The more love, effort and time you dedicate to your dog (same goes for children - even more so!), the more they will give you back. Knowing how cruel people (even more terrifying, kids!) can be towards each other, let alone poor animals, saddens me immensely. Anyway, the bond I had with my furry baby allowed me to capture many of her funniest, silliest moments which I treasure immensely now that she's gone (thank you, insert-coin-machines for vets!).
