The heavy load of dew drops weighing on this poor dandelion invoked the title of Hesse's The Glass Beads Game novel (in my native language the word for both 'game' and 'dance' is the same) in my mind, so I did a little wordplay (get it? get it? :) in the title.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken around 2014. in Belgrade, at the city lake Ada Ciganlija. I only had my "idiot" camera at the time. I was walking with my late furry girl on a foggy, cold morning and there was this patch of grass full of dew. This particular dandelion caught my eye - its crown was chock-full of the little drops. Naturally, I had to take a shot of the "majesty". :)

Time

Morning. Cold and foggy and humid.

Lighting

It certainly wasn't ideal, but sometimes one has to work with what they have.

Equipment

Sony "idiot" camera :) It's the only one I could afford at the time, it being waterproof and me wanting to try and take some under-the-sea photos that summer.

Inspiration

Macrophotography is one of the "genres" I love the most, simply because it makes us pay attention to all the small things many of the people just don't notice, or consider insignificant and take for granted. I try to bring their beauty closer to people and remind us all that we need to care deeply for "Mother Nature", and preserve whatever we have left. I wish we all looked up to Native Americans and the respect they had (still have?) for the very thing we depend on to survive.

Editing

Only converted to black & white. I don't think this type of subject would be better in colour.

In my camera bag

Right now I only have my Nikon D750 and "nifty fifty". I had to leave everything else behind, in Vancouver. Hopefully I will get them back some time soon.

Feedback

I still don't consider myself being at the level where I should dare to advise others :)
