This photo is a masterpiece. The thirds perspective is excellent. The water flow is superb.

Location
This photo was taken at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California. It is a biological research campus however you can purchase a visitation pass to view the amazing architecture just on the ocean.Time
This photo was taken late afternoon during a winter sunset. The campus closes to the public at 5:30 daily, however at that latitude in the winter you can watch the sunset from that location before 5:30pm.Lighting
Southern California is known to have wild winter sunsets, however with this clear sky evening, the dropping golden light had to be utilized more on the buildings than with the clouds and atmosphere.Equipment
Tripods are not allowed on campus, however I like to carry a simple beanbag with me when that is the case. Resting the camera on the beanbag allowed a tripod/platypod approach and helped get the low perspective and the slow shutter speed.Inspiration
This is one of the most photographed buildings in Southern California, with that you always have to use inspiration from the other images yet find your own personal take. The low and slow angle was more important to me than anything else. The light and the seagull helped align everything together!Editing
Lightroom post-processing with basic adjustmentsIn my camera bag
A bit of a gear addict my bag is never short of goodies. For my landscape my D850 and my 14-24mm 2.8 are invaluable, especially with my Fotodiox Wonderpana to enable filter ability. For wildlife I use Olympus and the OMD-Em1 mark2 and the 300mm f4 or 40-150 2.8 with a 1.4x teleconverter. And a million accessories.Feedback
Knowing the rules when you are photographing private property is very important. Many people that day were shunned due to their tripod. Being able to skirt that rule with a beanbag enabled access most wouldn't be able to.
