Location
This shot was taken on a Photowalk in Austin, Texas. The old Google+ group from Austin went around campus taking pictures. The gothic appearance of the stadium drew me in. The massive concrete seen here is right at the 50 yard line. The structure is VERY tall. This shot is about halfway up with me focusing about 2 feet from the concrete looking straight up.Time
It was late afternoon when the shot was taken.Lighting
All natural light, When I shoot concrete I tend to shoot underexposed just a little as it gives a nicer rich contrast to the shot.Equipment
Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8 lensInspiration
I have a degree in Architecture and have always been drawn to the lines and scale of architecture. This shot was no exception. Since I prefer B&W images, this structure lent itself nicely to the composition.Editing
This image was converted in Photoshop CC. Basic color balancing and sharpening was done. Then the image was converted to B&W using NIK's SilverFXIn my camera bag
I am a 100% Nikon shooter. I have a D810, D700, D300, D200, F5 cameras and a bag full of Nikkor lenses. All f2.8 or faster (primes). My go to lens is my 28-70mm or my wide-angle prime.Feedback
Always lookup. There is more going on up there than you think. Bad weather days are awesome for Architecture shots. The overcast or elements in the sky help draw the viewer through the image and the perspective of what was captured is accentuated.
