Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in Williamsburg, Virginia on Duke of Gloucester Street in the historic district.

Time

It was taken in the late morning, early December, on an overcast day.

Lighting

All natural light. It was overcast with very soft light and almost no shadows.

Equipment

Hand held Williamsburg has any number ofCanon EOS 6D with a Canon EF 24-105 f/4 IS lens at 105mm. f/8 at 1/60sec ISO 1600

Inspiration

Williamsburg has any number of sights begging for a photograph. I was standing in from of Bruton Parish Church when this carriage was being driven up the street. The subject was there, the light and angle were good and the camera was in my hand.

Editing

The raw image was processed in On1 Photo Raw for basic exposure, tone correction although little was necessary. I added a LUTs filter and white vignette for the final result.

In my camera bag

My basic walk-around kit is the Canon 6D and 24-105 lens. I generally do not carry a tripod. I have recently added a Canon M6 MkII mirrorless which I will alternate with the 6D.

Feedback

My only advice is to be ready for the shot. Be aware of your surroundings and have your equipment ready to take advantage of whatever pops up around you.
