Location
This was taken in my backyard while sitting on the patio. There is a whole gang of squirrels in the trees and flower beds as well as staked out under the bird feeders.Time
Late afternoon.Lighting
The base photo was taken outdoors in natural light. The squirrel was in partial shade under a tree.Equipment
Handheld Canon 6D with a Canon 75-300mm lens ISO 800 Shutter 1/1000Inspiration
As I mentioned above we have a plethora of squirrels and their antics beg to be recorded. I usually have my camera handy when outside or even shooting through the living room window and have been amassing a volume of squirrel activities which I may one day put together as a small show.Editing
Thee basic processing was done with On1 Photo Raw 2020 which involved some cropping and tweaking of the exposure and tone adjustments then used the technique of texture blending to mask out the original background. I finished up with a LUTS filter and vignette. In my camera bag
My Canon 6D and Canon 24-105 zoom is my basic walking around combination and the Canon 70-300 zoom gives me the range to cover most situations I would run into. Both lenses have a circular polarizer attached. Since I shoot mainly natural light I rarely carry a flash. My tripod is A K&F Concept carbon fiber.Feedback
You never know what you are going to be presented with so be aware of your surroundings and be ready to shoot when the opportunity presents itself.
