The Secretary Bird, or Marching Eagle, is a completely unique species. It isn't related to anything else. It kills its prey, usually snakes, by stamping on the victim's head.
It is thought that the bird got its name from the plumage, which looked like a secretary had tucked a range of quil pens in readiness for the day's work and the black feathers on its legs, which are reminiscent of the breeches worn by secretaries in Victorian times.
