I have just bought a prism lens that fits on the front of my Canon 50mm. I'm just experimenting with it at the moment.
It softens the focus slightly as well as giving this dreamy look. I would love to have a go at replicating the cover of the first Pink Floyd album, 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn'.

The picture was taken in autumn 2018 on a bridle way near where I live.Time
Whenever I take my dog for a walk I try to take a camera with me particularly in autumn as the colours can be so spectacular. This was taken during the afternoon walk.Lighting
It was a really dull day, which made the lighting nice and even.Equipment
It was taken on a Canon MkIII with a 50mm f1.8 lens, which had a prism lens attached to it.Inspiration
The inspiration for this picture comes from the cover of the Pink Floyd album, Piper at the gates of Dawn, taken by Vic Singh in 1967. For that album he used a prism lens, which had just been given to him. I had wanted to try and emulate the picture for years and year and then I saw a prism lens attachment for sale on eBay. I managed to get it for just £10. This was one of the first pictures I took with it as I was learning just what I could do with it.Editing
The picture is straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
I've been a Canon user since 1983 and I always use my Canon 5D MkIII, which, if it is possible to be in love with an inanimate object, I am in love with. I have considered upgrading to a MkIV but can't bear the prospect of having to leave the MkII behind as I'm sure it would be really upset. I usually have it linked to a 24-105mm L lens. I also carry with me a Canon 17-40mm, a Sigma 70-500mm and a 50mm f1.8. When the occasion demands it I will have a tripod and flash gun.Feedback
The shot is a bit gimmicky and the prism lens has limited uses, but it's always fun to experiment just be prepared to have a high proportion of shots that are discarded as you get used to whatever bit of kit you are using.
