Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Miyajima, Japan. It’s a nice, peaceful place, with many things to photograph at different times of the day, and at different times of the year.

Time

It was probably about 5:00-5:30 pm. I had just finished some sightseeing, and on my way to the ferry back to Hiroshima, when I noticed the sky starting to change colors.

Lighting

This was natural lighting, but I underexposed on purpose to make the colors stand out more.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D800 with my Nikon 28-300 VR, the combination I always use whenever I am out to photograph.

Inspiration

I enjoy photographing nature and landscapes. The vivid colors were something I wanted to capture in the photograph.

Editing

I did not do any post-processing. I started photographing a long time ago with Kodachrome 64 and learned how to bracket my shots, and so this was one photograph from the different photographs I had taken which were a little underexposed.

In my camera bag

I like to travel light, so I usually have just the Nikon D800 with the Nikon 28-300 VR, along with about two or three spare SD cards, because I photograph JPEG +RAW.

Feedback

Try to look for something unique, and try to take photographs of the same thing from different angles. Sometimes something interesting to photograph just appears, so try to always have your camera available ready to shoot. Happy photographing!
