Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on Long Beach Blvd. At 8th st. in downtown Long Beach.

Time

This was taken between midnight and 2 am. I had been look for a few good places to do a light trail photo of passing car for another project. One of the last city busses (Long Beach Transit) was the one vehicle on the road. so I took the shoot.

Lighting

I really wanted a clear crisp photo with nice light trails so I set for a high F stop and ISO of 800 with a 8 sec exposure.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS RP mirrorless camera, Rokinon 14mm lens, and a heavy duty tripod.

Inspiration

Night photos, especially light trails, are hand down my favorite to shoot. You got little idea of what you'll get until the shutter closes.

Editing

A little photoshop only to bring up the vibrance of the light trails.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Canon EOS RP and a sigma 50mm art lens everywhere. But also have an 18-100mm canon EF lens and a sigma 105mm macro in the bag at all times.

Feedback

Try a little higher ISO. Take lots of photos and change your angle. This shot was as low as the tripod I had would allow, aprox 12 inch off the ground, and more traffic doesn't matter. You can get great light trails with just one city bus!
