Fantastic shot family

Behind The Lens

This was taken in an industrial part of Los Angeles while walking down an abandon set of railroad tracks.
We meet up at 4 and started taken photos in and around different abandoned buildings. Then down the tracks we went. Both side of the tracks had tons of graffiti and we really thought would be great for the shot. By about 630pm we were in this spot. Sun had dipped below the buildings and was looking good
Daylight but not in direct daylight.
Always with my Canon Rebel T3i. Tamron 18-200mm lens shot at 32mm. The only other things that were used were the 6 colored smoke grenades
This was part of a 4 hour photo shoot. But one of the few shots I got where Butch is completely engulfed in smoke.
Very little color enhancement.
In my camera bag
Canon Rebel T3i is my only camera. The Tamron 18-200mm lens is my go to lens. I do carry a 50mm, 24mm, and 10-18mm but rarely use them.
Shots like these with a ton of smoke are tough for focusing. And a bunch of shots from this shoot were just crap. This is one of the few times I feel like I need to take tons and tons of photos to get right one. And one very important part of getting this short is to study the weather and wind direction. Changes in wind direction can completely ruin this. And with a limited window of time to shoot (smoke grenades only produce smoke for 30 secs) its important to make sure everything is right before beginning.
