Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the botanical garden in Montreal Quebec Canada

Time

I took the photo of this fox early in the afternoon.

Lighting

We were at the start of winter. There was partial sun with clouds. It gave a soft light. The snow acted as a reflector to uncork the shadows.

Equipment

About this fox photo A Nikon D500 with the nikor 200-500mm f 5.6 lens I shoot most of the time at ƒ / 8.0 Lens a 480.0 mm Speed 1/2000 ISO 450

Inspiration

This fox with its fur for the winter was magnificent. For the previous years I had followed a fox family. This fox is one of the offspring of the previous year. Unfortunately there was an illness. This fox died during the winter. I share the memory of this beautiful fox.

Editing

I photograph in raw. I did a post-processing with lightroom. I cropped for the rule of thirds. Calibrate whites and blacks for details. Also to have a jpg file.

In my camera bag

When I go for the wildlife photo. I limped and a long focal length zoom lens. example for the Nikon D500 a nikor 200 - 500 mm f 5.6 lens The canon 6D has a 150 - 600mm sigma lens. Now I work with the full frame box, it is the Sony 7III with the Sony 200-600 mm lens. For landscape photography. A Canon 6D with the 24 - 105mm lens. I have Canon and Nikon adapters for the Sony A 7III. I also have a Sony 85mm f 1.8 lens for portrait photography. A Tripods & Monopods, gimbal

Feedback

For this type of photos I use fast speeds and f 8 as the aperture. We must always be on the alert. It is a fast and fierce animal. Be patient. It may take hours for the animal to feel comfortable with our presence. Observed ... over time we can anticipate the animal's reaction. When there is a baby fox. Respect the distance (their bubble). They are curious over time (like invisible). Be patient and you will have the chance to come back with some great photos. We will have the chance to admire your work.
