Eastern cottontail is the most common species of wild rabbit in North America and ranges from southern Canada into South America. This one was seen in Montell, Uvalde County, Texas where we generally see them. They seem to have learned that the humans here do not pose a threat and will continue feeding as we walk around them and occasionally when I'm sitting with my camera, they will approach fairly close as if to see what I'm doing. They know to high-tail it when the dogs are loose. I usually see them in the early mornings and just before dusk.
