Location
I took this photo whilst touring Iceland on holiday with my wife. The waterfall is Stjornafoss in the South of Iceland - just off main route N1.Time
The waterfall was shot at the end of the day - perhaps not quite golden hour but close.Lighting
The lighting was as seen but it was made difficult by the fact that the big rocks either side of the fall cast major shadows.Equipment
I use a Nikon D850 with the usual holy trinity of lenses: 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200mmm lenses - plus others.Inspiration
My wife and i were staying at the Hotel garland which meant we had to turn off the main Iceland N1 road. I had planed to visit all the major waterfalls and get the 'usual' shots that all visitors to Iceland get. However, as we turned off the main road and towards the hotel for the evening I passed this fall and had to stop to take a shot. The fall itself is not that spectacular but the rock formations either side of it make for an interesting composition and the water almost becomes the supplementary focus of the shot after the unusual shape and structure of the rocks.Editing

Go to Iceland! My wife and I toured the island by car over 10 days and this was not enough time. The whole experience was truly wonderful and the scenery changes by the hour - sometimes by the minute - and all of it is worth capturing.
