This was taken at the Rush County Courthouse in Rushville, In.Time
This is a favorite from this shoot. It was a busy weekend and it was important to shoot here. Our grandmother had passed away a year earlier. She had worked at the courthouse for a number of years. It was midday but thankfully, there was plenty of shade.Lighting
We had to shoot at midday. This was shot with natural light. The limestone bounced the bright sunlight perfectly onto my neice.Equipment
I shot this with a Nikon D50 with a Nikkor 70-120mm f/3.5-4.8. I hand held the camera. There were no light modifiers except the building and sidewalk.Inspiration
This was emotional for my neice and I. Our grandmother had been county clerk for many years. She passed away a year before. We were in town for a family get together to celebrate her. My neice and I both felt that we HAD to do a few of her senior photos here.Editing
This required very little post processing. I made a few minor color corrections and just a small amount of cropping to improve the composition.In my camera bag
At this time, I pack my Nikon D5500. I outfitted my camera with a Castar battery holder/vertical grip. I also carry 4 batteries and a dual charger with ac and dc power. I always have my Nikon SB 700 speed light. I carry 3 lenses. I have a 28-300mm, a 18-140mm and a 85mm f/1.8 lens.Feedback
Be aware of the light. Midday sun is very harsh. Look for shade and use light modifiers if needed. I'm not a fan of camera mounted flash but if shade is too dark, fill flash can make a big difference.
