The first time in a long time that i have managed to get out and about with my camera. I got home late from work and made a quick decision to grab it and go. I got down to this location with only around 30 minutes before sunset and faced with a rapidly rising tide and a reasonably strong north easterly wind blowing down the estuary, i struggled to find a good composition. The tidal flow in this area is extremely strong and what is ok to walk on one minute is knee deep in water the next so i was very conscious of getting caught out by the tide. I had been out on the estuary for 20 minutes or so and was getting demoralised by the wind and worried about the tide cutting me off, I started to head back with only a couple of half baked images. It was at this point this caught my attention. I loved the colour in the sky and the contrast between light and dark, cold blue and the warm reds- orange, i noticed that the rising tide was almost leading into the sunset and i knew i had to try and do this view justice. By the time i set my tripod up, i was already getting wet feet and my route of escape was looking more dodgy with every passing minute. I decided i didn't have time to mess around and i just had to work as quickly as possible. I decided that if i wanted to walk back to the car rather than swim, then i didnt have time to mess around with setting up filters, so i bracketed for three exposures and these were processed in photomatrix pro.
