Sam was deep in thought when I got this image. I told her I had to change some settings on my camera and flash (which I did). Changing the settings was quick so I was able to capture her unaware that I was ready to shoot. I think sometimes this type of occurrence leads to the strongest photos. Shot in Utah near my home. The background was purposely underexposed and an off camera flash was used to highlight Sam's face.
