Inspired by retro car advertisements, I organized a shoot with a Mazda s2 Rx2 and my beautiful model Kaz. The day of the shoot actually did not start to plan. Myself managed to get a flat tire on the way to the shoot location which pushed or shoot start time back. I was very lucky to have patient people to work with. My shoots involve quite a few people including car owners, models and behind the scenes help.
Unfortunately there was nowhere close by that had an expanse of palm trees or beachside carparks. The downside to Western Sydney Australia hahaha.
I shot this set in a industrial area that had as much open sky and background that I could find. I knew I would be manipulating Palm Tress in the background. I shot this image in 3 different images. I like to do this and than stitch the photos together. This way I don't lose detail trying to get everything into one shot.
This shot is fairly simple to my other work. I used a canon 5d markii and a 100mm 2.8.
I rely on ambient light to be my backlight and my assistant to use a reflector as a fill light.
EDITING: fairly simple with this shot. Lightroom to open shadows and bring down highlights as well as sharpening and white balance adjustment.
I than stitch the photos in CS and start editing away distracting elements. I manipulate my background into the image. After this its beauty retouching and color adjustments.
