Behind The Lens

Location

I actually photographed Kitty at my friends place in Beaverton, Oregon.

Time

It was near sunset and there was only one light in the room. It was very dark.. You could not read a magazine.

Lighting

The light was pointing to the ceiling. Diffused. Only one bulb behind lampshade.

Equipment

Canon 1DX and Sigma 85mm 1.4 lens. no Flash, handheld. ISO 2500 (it was on Auto ISO) so the Camera decided.

Inspiration

I actually took the shot to show my friend Chris how the Canon 1DX can shoot in low light. I only took one image and turned the camera around and he could not believe it. The one light in the room behind me and his red couch made it possible. Camera was on Auto ISO. It can take images above 100,000 ISO so I rarely take it off AUTO.

Editing

Actually no. Rare for me not to sharpen a bit or take a bit of dust out. No Photoshop on this one.

In my camera bag

1dx, Canon 28 to 70mm 2.8L, Canon 100mm 2.0, Sigma 85mm 1.4, Canon 50mm 1.4, 600 series flashes and Magmod.

Feedback

Buy fast lenses. You cannot duplicate this, handheld in low light. Get an F2 or faster lens. (That also helps with the low depth of field.)
