Behind The Lens

Location

This one was shot in my own bedroom, on my own bed and the funniest part was to wrap her in the christmas lights, my wife was assisting me and it was really funny,

Time

It was getting quite late in the winter, and the sun was going down rapidly, it was the opportunity to play with the balance between the led lights and the ambiant light, which gave me the idea to use the temperature difference between the two to get that blue tint.

Lighting

Nothing more than natural light from the window and the LED Lights, both having really different white balance allowed me to get that overall blue tint.

Equipment

It was shot on the good old canon 5D mark II with the 50mm f1.8 hand held in front of the camera to mimic a tilt shift lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to get some nice original effect, that's why I was freelensing and the warmth of the LED lights inspired me to get that blue tint as the light outside was very cold. (Cloudy day)

Editing

Nope, just some contrast and basic adjustments in lightroom to reinforce the white balance difference.

In my camera bag

I always have my camera with a 50mm lens, it's the lens I use the most, but I also love having a 135mm F1.8 in case I shoot some portraits outside, I really love the depth of field, compression and sharpness it provides. I also have a godox speedlight, in case I need to bounce the light off the walls in difficult lighting scenarios with gels to fix the white balance.

Feedback

You have to think outside the box while shooting, let the creativity flow in the moment, this is the perfect example of something unplanned turning into a good shot. I wanted to play with LED lights for christmas, the rest just came naturally :)
