Behind The Lens

Location

This image was created on the kitchen counter top.

Time

The time of day was around 7:00 P.M. evening

Lighting

The lighting used was one speedlight setup behind a translucent white panel placed about six feet from the subject.

Equipment

I used a Canon 5D MKII body, a Canon 70 - 200mm F/2.8 lens and a Canon 580 EXII speedlight for this image

Inspiration

It was part of a food photography portfolio building project

Editing

The post processing was basic color, contrast and sharpening process with a slight crop.

In my camera bag

I carry two Canon dslr bodies, two speedlights and three to four lenses.

Feedback

Be mindful of the quantity and quality of your lighting. Direction of light and the light intensity if critical when doing food photography. One might think that composition isn't as important when photographing food but if the composition confuses the viewer then the image would not be appealing to the viewer. You then miss the objective of food photography which is to get the viewer to desire the food they are looking at.
