Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Provence. More precisely in the Valensole plateau where from mid-June to mid-August there is a blooming of fragrant lavender flowers. A truly enchanted landscape!

Time

I've been for a long time in this wonderful place but this photo in particular I took on the sunset time. More precisely, it was the 6th of July 2018 at around 8pm. The colors of the sunset with the beauty of the blooming lavender really impressed me.

Lighting

Totally natural lighting. I just tried to close the diaphragm as much as possible in order to create the star effect in the sun

Equipment

For this photo I used my D850 equipped with70-200 Nikkor. The adjustments were: f / 22; ISO-800; 1/80. Freehand shooting

Inspiration

It is easy to be enchanted by the atmosphere that is experienced at this time of year in Provence! The colors enter your eyes and nose with their lavender scents. The sunset seemed to mix heaven and earth in a truly wonderful color scheme

Editing

No particular post-production processing. I developed the raw file by slightly lightening the shadows and slightly increasing the saturation. The next step was to increase the definition of the photo with Photoschop using accentuate passage

In my camera bag

In my bag there are always my two camera bodies D850 and D5 and the "triad" of Nikkor lenses consisting of 14-24; 24-70 and 70-200 (all f / 2.8) in addition to the 85mm f / 1.4 and the Nikon focal duplicator

Feedback

Giving advice when faced with such wonder is unnecessary. Everything is so beautiful that it is easy to make good shots. Just one tip: take care of the composition of the image. A trick that can really make the difference between a good photo and a trivial shot.
