I wanted to use the light to shine through the ice in order to give the ability to see through or see the crystals.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon T5i with the Macro 100mm lens. No flash or tripod. A lot of patience and waiting for the ice to melt and drip.Inspiration
I wanted to practice with water drops and reflections. It was a very windy and cold day, but the sun was shining and I found a piece of ice with a good ratio of water droplets, in order to get the timing right. There was a lot of running to my car to warm up, and going back outside for 5-10 minutes for pictures until my hands froze again.Editing
I adjusted the shadows and highlights in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I change equipment and cameras frequently. I tend to always have my 100mm Macro lens with me, at least.Feedback
Take multiple multiple photos! In bursts. Most of the time you take 100 photos, and only 3 come out the way you wanted. Be patient. Use different angles and light sources. There is beauty all around you, and unlimited creativity. I try to take photos with the most natural abilities so I won’t have much post-processing to do.
