I would like to be able to tell you why I keep returning to this photo but I just don’t know...yet. Is the the strong horizontals and verticals which, while strong indeed do not overwhelm the textured colors but in fact highlight their muted power on the landscape? Or is it the contrast of the strong rust color of the “steps” energetically framing the foreground and leading the eye quickly up, but then inevitably across to the those muted horizontals that anchor the magnificent verticals of the background? Or does it matter because it is all so very beautiful!!
