Location
This photo was taken near a waterway near Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.Time
I'd pulled over by the side of the road to have a break about mid afternoon.Lighting
As I was on the road, I do deliveries for a living, the lighting is basically just the afternoon sun.Equipment
This was taken on my previous camera, a Nikon D3200 using a Tamron 70-300mm zoom lens at 210mm. Nothing else was used.Inspiration
I'd been here before to photograph the flying foxes that live in the area, but had yet to catch one in flight. I was determined to get a photo of one in flight.Editing
I don't have Photoshop or Lightroom, so I just use Nikon's Capyure NX-D for post processing. In this case I think I just sharpened the photo a bit.In my camera bag
My camera gear lives in my bag and is always ready to be picked up and put in the car. My gear comes to work with me every day. My camera's a Nikon D500. I have 4 lenses, Nikon 18-55mm kit lens, Nikon 10-20mm wide angle, Nikon 40mm macro and Tamron 70-300mm zoom. I also make sure I always have my spare battery, fully charged, release cable and tripod.Feedback
There was always the intent to get this shot, however it was still somewhat opportunistic. My advice to tohers would be always have your gear with you. you never know when a great photo opportunity will present its self.
