Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the kitchen table using the window blind as a backdrop.

Time

This was taken after dinner at around 8:00pm.

Lighting

The only lighting I used was the ceiling light, I just had to turn the pencils so I had ths shadow where I wanted it.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D500, an 18-55mm nikon lens at 34mm. I used a tripod and shutter release cable, and the kitchen table to hold the pencils.

Inspiration

I had seen many great photos of pencils on social media and in magazines. It was also at about the time I was toying with close up photography. Plus, I loved the colours of the pencil tips.

Editing

The post processing on this photo was pretty much just sharpening and upping the clarity a little bit in Capture NX-D.

In my camera bag

My bag has my Nikon D500 body, 4 lenses, 10-20mm wide angle, 18-55mm kit lens, 40mm micro lens, and 70-300mm zoom. The zoom lens is Tamron, all the others are nikon. I also have a 2nd battery, cleaning kit, shutter release and tripod.

Feedback

If ever you find yourself undecided as to wether or not to take a photo, take it anyway. You could just end up with something amazing. If not then learn from it and try again later. Either way, you're more likely to regret not even trying than you are trying and not succeeding.
