Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on my way to work. I was only a few minutes down the road when I saw this amazing view.

Time

This was taken shortly after 6;00am.

Lighting

The lighting in this is totally natural. The backlighting was entirely from the sun.

Equipment

The camera I used is a Nikon D3200 with an 18-55mm kit lens. It was hand held as there was enough light for me not to have to use my tripod.

Inspiration

This was purely an opportunistic photo. I saw the scene, hit the brakes, pulled over and took some photos.

Editing

The post processing on this photo was minimal. I sharpened it a tad using View-NX2.

In my camera bag

I don't have a huge amount of equipment. My camera is a Nikon D3200. I have two lenses, the kit 18-55mm lens and a Tamron 70-300mm zoom lens. I also have a tripod and a shutter release cable. And that's about it.

Feedback

In this day of digital cameras the advice I would give is, if in doubt take the shot anyway. You can always fiddle with it in post processing, and if it's still not what you want, delete it. Don't be afraid to play with your camera. One of the best ways I found to learn was to completely stuff things up, and try again. Also, read the instruction manual, and don't be afraid to ask questions,
