The Truckee River flows from Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, above the river delta is a dam that had to be built because water diversions, started over 100 years ago, have dropped the level of this natural desert lake by over 80 feet. This shot is taken below Marble Bluff dam where a fishway was constructed to move the spawning Cutthroat trout and Cui-ui fish out of the shallow delta and into the river system. Of course, the White Pelicans, which nest on a protected island in Pyramid Lake, take advantage of this fish run as they have for thousands of years.
