Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Florence from the terrace of the park of Villa Bardini

Time

The shot was made around 10pm at the exit of a reception. I remember that day I had not taken the photographic easel with me and when I saw the panorama I regretted this choice.

Lighting

The lighting is totally natural with the lights of the city.

Equipment

For this shot I used my Nikon D850 equipped with Nikkor 70-200 110 focal length. Unfortunately I did not have with me the photographic easel and I had to keep the ISO (2500 ISO) high to be able to shoot (helping me with the back of a chair) at a speed of 1/30. Spot reading, f / 2.8. If I had a tripod I could lower the ISO to 100 and closed a little 'more diaphragm. The result (even if this satisfies me anyway) would have been even better.

Inspiration

It is easy to be inspired in front of my Florence so beautiful

Editing

No special processing. I developed the raw file by balancing shadows and lights and then I applied the Color efex D-end filter to remove "noise" on the darker shadows.

In my camera bag

Normally I bring the Nikon D6 and D850 with me with 14-24; 24-70 and 70-200 Nikkor. I often take with me and the 85 f / 1.4. Depending on the shots that I am going to do I have other specific equipment for macro and sport.

Feedback

At the level of equipment that evening I was not well put. In any case, I always recommend to photograph what moves you even if the picture may not be perfect. The lack of a tripod led me to look for a compromise that proved successful.
