Location
I took this photo on a white dish in my study near a window with natural reflected light.Time
It was mid afternoon.Lighting
It was natural light that was reflected into the room off the white exterior walls.Equipment
Nikon, hand held, no flashInspiration
I saw this white platter at the store and was wondering how it would work to shoot still life setups on with natural light. The light was perfect outside, falling nicely on the table where I placed the platter.Editing
I used photoshop merely to convert this to black and white and minimum other editing, checking levels was about it. I don’t tend to tweak too much on my photos, if I notice dust, I’ll remove that, occasionally adjust the contrast. Started out as a film photographer and editing in a darkroom, so minimal changes. In my camera bag
I usually have a Nikon D7100, Nikon D90 and Nikon lenses: 24mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 35mm f2, 35-70mm 3.5-4.5, 70-210mm f4.5-5.6 nothing modern, but mainly prime lenses.Feedback
The time of day and quality of light are what made the photo. The light was bright but indirect, bouncing off the exterior walls of the house.
