Location
This image was taken in my home studio . I have been working on taking images in controlled settings.Time
I took this image in the late afternoon.Lighting
I used the natural light from my studio window, and a daylight adjustable lamp, and worked with reflected light off a porcelain dish.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 with a Sigma macro lens. A white porcelain dish.Inspiration
I have been experimenting with creating photographs from found objects. I also have been working on shooting with easily obtainable props and lighting that are not expensive. The porcelain dish which is large and square was less than $5.Editing
I did very simple editing in Photoshop, a levels adjustment, and that was about it.In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D90 with an old 35-70 Nikon lens, a Nikon 50 mm prime lens, a Nikon 70- 210 for outdoor action, a 24 mm Nikon prime lens, and a Sigma macro lens. If I know I am going to need a longer telephoto I take my long Sigma 300mm lens. All of my lenses were originally bought for my film Nikon except for my 50mm.Feedback
Be observant when outdoors, I have found all kinds of seeds, bugs, feathers, fur and nests, as well as interesting dried fungi and flora, etc. use as much natural light as possible, and place things as realistically as you are able. If you are afraid of crushing things use tweezers. Be aware of hot spots from any light.
