As I was photographing American Avocet in a wetlands area of Gilbert, Arizona, this coyote came from behind me, splashed into the water and dashed across the pond toward a covey of ducks and ducklings. I was shooting with my Canon 500mm f-4 USM IS + a 1.4x teleconverter as I was focused on the birds! When the coyote came, it took every skill I had to track him sprinting by while keeping him in the frame. This is an uncropped image! It was amazing to see and experience this split-second moment!
