Cape Churchill is one of the main areas where the Southern Hudson Bay population of polar bear congregate waiting for the ice to form on the Hudson Bay to go hunt after a 6 months state of torpor, a state walking hibernation. The most I ever saw in one 'eye shot' was 39 bears!!. Shot in 2006 using a compact camera. Unfortunately you do not see this many bears in one place in recent years.
