Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot a my best mates wedding in Ontario, Canada in Algonquin National Park

Time

Probably shot around 4pm (my camera was on UK time)

Lighting

It was a pretty overcast and quite flat day tbh so i had no issues with glaring sunlight beaming down on dads head there but the lake behind reflected nicely in the background

Equipment

I used my trusty Canon 5dmk2 and the magnificent Canon 70-200 f2.8 mk2 shot at 200mm f4.5 1/200 at ISO320. No filters.

Inspiration

Billy (on the left) is such a loving guy and this image with him and his Dad just says so much of Billy and his love of family and life in general

Editing

All post processing was undertaken in Lightroom 5. Apart from the usual lens correction and chromatic aberration removal, i made the image mono and tried to keep it as clean as possible. No cropping, just some sharpening, no noise reduction, just used Tone Curve to adjust black and whites.

In my camera bag

I normally shoot wildlife/landscape so nowadays my big bag generally includes Canon 5d mk2 (hope to upgrade soon), Canon 7d mk2, Canon 70-200 f2.8 mk2, 24-70 F4 is, Canon 17-40 F4, Tamron 150-600 (in good light only), Sigma 15mm f2.8 and Tokina 11-16 f2.8 for aurora shots. Canon ex580 and 600rt flash units, Lee filters plus lots more lens and gear

Feedback

Just to try and capture the true nature of the person you are photographing. I guess it helps to know them somewhat as i did and i know that this really shows Billy as a loving son whom adores his dad.
