Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a beautiful winter morning at lake Louise, Canada

Time

This was taken in the morning, as my 3 friends and I joined a few other photographers to crowd around this bit of open water to be able to pick up some reflections in it.

Lighting

The early morning winter light was very nice on this particular morning. I had gotten up early with my friends to drive to this location and hope for some sunrise colors. there ended up not being much color in the sky, but the light was subdued and nice.

Equipment

This was shot with my Sony A99II, and my wide 16-50 Sony lens. I have a Sirui carbonfiber tripod and use a Manfrotto pistol grip head. I love the quick ease of getting this head set in to position.

Inspiration

I love the mountains, I love photos with reflections, and I love cabins! So this photo just brought them all together.

Editing

I usually just add some contrast and a bit of sharpening to my photos. Straightening if they need it, which happens more than I like to admit!

In my camera bag

I keep an extra camera in my bag while traveling, especially after tripping a number of times and had to resort to the back up. I usually have a Tamron 28-300 on my camera and have the wider Sony lens along for when I need that. If there will be wildlife where I am traveling to, I also bring along a 150-600 Tamron. I keep a polarizer and neutral density filters in my bag too, along with some good cleaning cloths.

Feedback

I can only advise to always be out shooting early in the morning and stay out till the sun goes down-or even longer!
